Session 1 · DESIGN: Give Value
User trial
- 10 minSet up your prototype where the user will use it: garden bed, hallway model, or trap model.
- 25 minYour user tries it. Watch without helping. Note what confuses them and what they like.
- 15 minMake one quick fix based on what you saw.
Session 2 · DESIGN: Navigate Constraints
Power, cost, weather and waste
- 15 minConstraints check: how long will the batteries last? Is it waterproof? What would it cost to make ten?
- 15 minE-waste and sustainability: how could it be repaired, reused or solar-powered?
- 20 minPresent: system diagram, test log, user feedback and one trade-off you made. Send it to your user.
Getting started
Present with the five-slide template: problem, system, test, user, trade-off.
Stretch
Write a short instruction card so someone else could build and install your system.
Checkpoint
User feedback recorded, a final system diagram and a clear explanation of one constraint and how you handled it.
