Dress rehearsal and front of house
- 10 minSet up: mark the stage with tape, place props, test lights and sound levels.
- 25 minDress rehearsal from start to finish without stopping. The director notes three things to fix.
- 10 minPractise the forum: the 'joker' (host) explains the rules, and a teacher or classmate steps in to try a different choice.
- 5 minFront of house: write a short programme note about your issue and a welcome for the audience.
Session 2 · CREATE: Exhibit
Performance and forum
- 5 minWelcome the audience and explain forum theatre: you'll see the play once, then again, and anyone can call 'stop!' and step in.
- 25 minPerform the play, then replay the forum moment. Audience members step in to try new choices; actors respond in character.
- 15 minTalk with the audience: what changes did people try? What would it take to make that change in real life? Invite your guest with power over the issue to respond.
- 10 minReflect in your diary: what did the audience notice that you didn't? What is one action you could take next?
Getting started
Perform the play once and host one audience intervention.
Stretch
Write a letter to the decision-maker about the issue, including what the audience suggested during the forum.
Checkpoint
A full performance with working cues, an audience forum, and a written reflection with one next action.
