Session 1 · THRIVE: Evaluate

Trip day (or orienteering day)

  1. 10 minFinal checks: forecast, gear check against your list, roles, headcount. Go or no-go: agree the decision together with the adults.
  2. 40 minRun the trip or the school-grounds orienteering course. Each role does its job; weather watchers record changes; tail-enders keep everyone together.
  3. 10 minHeadcount, gear back, a quick 'what went well' circle.

Session 2 · THRIVE: Evaluate

Debrief and share

  1. 15 minGroup debrief: compare your plan with what really happened. Times, weather, decisions, anything you changed on the day and why.
  2. 20 minFinish the 'Ready for the Outdoors' guide: gear cards, layering rule, first aid card, a tested route and a trip-intentions template.
  3. 10 minPrivate reflection: what did you do as a leader or a team member that you are proud of? What would you do differently?
  4. 5 minPlan how you will lead a younger class around the orienteering course.

Getting started

Use a debrief chart with three columns: planned, happened, next time.

Stretch

Lead a junior class around your orienteering course and teach them one safety habit.

Checkpoint

You can explain which parts of your plan kept the group safe and what you would change next time, and the guide is ready to share.
