Session 1 · THRIVE: Tune In
Heart-rate detective
- 8 minHook: pulse at rest, then after 30 star jumps. Predict what will happen after a sprint and after a slow two-minute jog.
- 20 minHeart-rate detective (Activity): test different activities, record pulse and effort (1–10), and try the talk test.
- 12 minAerobic or anaerobic? Sort the activities you tried: which could you keep going for ages, and which made your muscles burn quickly?
- 10 minRead the scenario. What would you like to get better at? Start a private training log.
Session 2 · THRIVE: Tune In
Baseline day
- 10 minWhole-class warm-up: pulse raiser, mobility, dynamic stretches.
- 5 minChoose three tests from the menu that match what you want to improve.
- 25 minBaseline stations (Activity: 'Baseline stations'). Partners time and measure; you record only your own results.
- 10 minCool down with walking and slow stretches. Write one sentence in your log about how each test felt.
Getting started
Use the picture effort scale: 1 = sitting on the couch, 5 = brisk walk and chat, 10 = can't say a word.
Stretch
Work out your heart rate in beats per minute for each activity and draw a bar graph.
Checkpoint
You have three baseline results in your own log and can explain the difference between aerobic and anaerobic activity.
