Session 1 · THRIVE: Habits
Warm up like a pro
- 10 minWhy warm up? Feel your pulse at rest, then after a two-minute jog. What changed?
- 20 minBuild a warm-up in three parts (Activity: 'Build your warm-up'): pulse raiser, mobility, dynamic stretches. Add a game-specific drill.
- 15 minGroups lead their warm-up for another group and get one piece of feedback.
- 5 minHabit talk: drink water, check your gear, tell someone if you're hurt. Add these to a 'game-day checklist'.
Session 2 · THRIVE: Relationships
Teams and roles
- 10 minMeet your teams (chosen by the teacher) for the rest of the unit. Pick a team name and a handshake or call.
- 15 minChoose roles (Activity: 'Team roles board'): captain, coach, warm-up leader, umpire, equipment manager, statistician. Everyone has one; they rotate later.
- 15 minWrite a team charter: how we'll talk to each other, how we'll include everyone, what we'll do if we disagree.
- 10 minPlay a short game using your roles. Debrief: what did each role actually do?
Getting started
Give each role a job card with three things it does before, during and after a game.
Stretch
Interview a coach or club volunteer about how they make sure every young player gets a fair go.
Checkpoint
Your team can run its own warm-up and knows what each role does.
