Session 1 · THRIVE: Value
Design the festival
- 10 minChoose three games for the festival (one from each main family). Use STEP to make each one inclusive for younger players.
- 25 minMake the festival pack: rule cards, safety notes, a roles board and a stats sheet (Activity: 'Festival pack').
- 15 minPractise umpiring with signals and short, clear calls. Test one game with another team and fix any confusing rules.
Session 2 · THRIVE: Evaluate
Game On festival and review
- 30 minRun the festival for a younger class: teams lead warm-ups, umpire, coach and keep stats.
- 10 minCollect feedback from the younger students with a thumbs-up, sideways or down for each game.
- 10 minTeam review: what worked, what would you change, and how did your team's stats and teamwork change over the unit? Personal reflection kept private.
Getting started
Keep the rule cards to five rules or fewer, with a picture for each.
Stretch
Offer the games pack to the lunchtime sports leaders so the games keep running.
Checkpoint
A festival delivered, with feedback and a team review that uses evidence from your stats.
