Session 1 · THRIVE: Tune In
The four walls
- 10 minHook: sketch a whare with one wall missing. What happens to the roof in a storm? Share ideas with a partner.
- 15 minRead 'Te Whare Tapa Whā: the four walls of hauora'. In pairs, list two everyday things that build each wall.
- 15 minPrivate self-check: rate each wall for yourself this week from 1 to 5 and write one reason. Nobody else sees it unless you choose.
- 10 minChoose one wall to strengthen. Write it on the inside cover of your book, not on the board.
Session 2 · THRIVE: Habits
What helps, what hinders
- 10 minRead 'Sleep, screens and movement'. Which guideline surprised you?
- 15 minHabit hunt: list your own habits that help and hinder your chosen wall. Use the habit loop (cue, routine, reward) to pull one apart.
- 15 minShrink it: turn a big wish ('get fitter', 'be less stressed') into one tiny, specific habit with a when and a where.
- 10 minWrite your habit as an 'After I…, I will…' sentence and decide how you will record it.
Getting started
Choose from the class habit menu: screens out of the bedroom, a full water bottle by morning tea, a 10-minute walk after school, one kind message a day, lights out 20 minutes earlier.
Stretch
Explain how your habit could strengthen two walls at once, and predict what your tracker will show.
Checkpoint
Each student has privately chosen one wall and written one small, specific habit with a when and a where.
