Session 2 · THRIVE: Habits
Fuel for growing bodies
- 10 minRead 'A balanced plate for a growing body'.
- 20 minFood group sort: sort picture cards into the food groups, then build a balanced plate for a hypothetical day with half vegetables and fruit.
- 15 minNutrient jobs: match protein, calcium, iron, fibre and healthy fats to their jobs in your body and to foods that carry them.
- 5 minExit card: one food group most young people could use more of.
Getting started
Use the picture plate card with the four sections already drawn.
Stretch
Find a traditional food from your culture or another and work out which food groups and nutrients it provides.
Checkpoint
Students can name the main food groups, what a balanced plate looks like, and two nutrients that matter while growing.
