Session 1 · THRIVE: Habits
Cracking the back of the packet
- 10 minRead 'Reading a food label like a detective'. What does 'per 100 g' let you do?
- 25 minLabel lab: compare three cereals or three snack bars per 100 g for sugar, sodium, saturated fat and fibre. Record in a table.
- 10 minIngredients check: what is first on each list? How many kinds of sugar can you spot?
- 5 minRank the three and explain your choice.
Session 2 · THRIVE: Habits
Sugar you can see
- 10 minPredict: how many teaspoons of sugar are in a 600 mL bottle of fizzy?
- 25 minSugar stack: calculate teaspoons (grams ÷ 4) for five drinks and measure it out in clear cups.
- 10 minWhy fizzy and teeth don't mix: sugar feeds the bacteria that make acid, and the drink itself is acidic.
- 5 minWhere does water fit? Discuss free water at school.
Getting started

Stretch
Compare the cost per 100 g of the same foods. Is the healthier choice always more expensive?
Checkpoint
Every student can compare two products per 100 g and convert grams of sugar to teaspoons.
