Session 1 · THRIVE: Value

Why hauora matters

  1. 15 minConnect your initiative to values: manaakitanga (caring for others), whanaungatanga (belonging), fairness, and young people's right to play and to be heard.
  2. 25 minKeep running the initiative. One group member interviews two participants about what it means to them.
  3. 10 minNote any surprises in your logbook.

Session 2 · THRIVE: Value

Stress and bouncing forward

  1. 15 minWhat stress does to the body (fast heart, quick breathing, tight muscles) and why: the fight, flight or freeze response.
  2. 15 minResilience is not always 'bouncing back'. Sometimes it's feeling stuck, asking for help and moving forward slowly. Share a time a team or whānau got through something together.
  3. 15 minTry two calming strategies and add one to your initiative's toolkit.
  4. 5 minReflect privately: how are you finding leading others?

Getting started

Link one value to one part of your initiative in a single sentence.

Stretch

Compare two coping strategies: which works best in the moment, and which helps over weeks?

Checkpoint

Every group can explain the values behind its initiative, and each student has one strategy for managing the stress of leading.
